Tasting Notes
Annandale's 2017 Man O'Sword Vintage is a peat-lover's dream, a smoky delight that unravels layer after layer of complexity. The nose captivates with a fusion of charred marzipan, nutty praline, and pipe tobacco, enveloped in a veil of alluring peat smoke. On the palate, charred oak and hints of summer fruits lead the way, followed by vegetal smoke intertwined with wafts of vanilla and coconut flakes. As the finish unfolds, fiery ginger arrives, warming the senses, while vanilla and plum notes balance out the vegetal barley. This single malt, matured in a single shaved, toasted, and re-charred cask that previously held red wine, and bottled at a robust 60.4% ABV, is a true testament to the art of cask maturation and the art of peat.
