Balblair
Tasting Notes
Balblair 17 Year Old 1990 - Old Malt Cask is a delightful single malt that delicately balances rich flavors with a gentle smokiness. The nose greets you with a sweet, grainy aroma reminiscent of fresh barley, accompanied by a fruity medley of apples, pears, and plums, with a touch of honey. On the palate, vanilla leads the way, complemented by malty, biscuity notes that lend a delightful warmth. The body is well-rounded, with a subtle hint of smoke lingering in the background. As you savor the finish, a gentle smokiness emerges, accompanied by a light peaty quality and a sweet, lingering barley sweetness that lingers pleasantly on the tongue. This exceptional whisky was distilled at Balblair in April 1990 and carefully aged for 17 years in a refill butt before being bottled by Douglas Laing in October 2007, with a limited release of 743 bottles.
