Benchmark Single Barrel is a surprisingly delightful Kentucky Straight Bourbon, bottled at 95 proof from hand-selected barrels. Don't expect fireworks, but it delivers a solid experience. The nose offers inviting aromas of candied caramel, brown sugar, and a hint of apple. The palate is smooth with creamy notes, soft oak, and a delicious sugary caramel sweetness. The finish brings a touch of spice and light char. It's not the most complex bourbon, but it's a well-balanced and enjoyable sipper, especially considering its price point. Think Buffalo Trace sweetness, but dialed back a notch.
