This Benrinnes 9 Year Old 2012 from GreatDrams is a delightful single malt that tantalizes the senses with its rich and complex flavors. Upon nosing, you're greeted with a dense malty aroma that hints at meatiness, complemented by dried fruit notes and festive spices. On the palate, waves of vanilla and creamy milk chocolate wash over your taste buds, intermingling with the flavors of spiced fruit compote and a touch of caraway. The finish is bold and lingering, with notes of clove and cinnamon sweetness building from the sherried fruit, underpinned by a low hum of mahogany. This expression was distilled in 2012 and spent 21 months finishing in a first-fill Oloroso sherry cask before being bottled in December 2021 at a robust 48.2% ABV, ensuring a full-bodied and flavorful dram.
