Tasting Notes
Benromach 10 Year Old (Old Bottling) is a delightful single malt whisky that invites you to savor the essence of barley and oak. On the nose, it greets you with a dry, malty aroma accompanied by hints of pine and fruity notes, while a slight spirity undertone adds an intriguing layer. As you let it linger, sweet spices and a subtle puckering prune flavor from the sherry cask mingle with maple fudge notes. The palate unfolds with a barley-rich taste, slightly herbal and grassy, complemented by malty depths and a touch of ground ginger. The finish is a mouthwateringly bittersweet experience, where ginger, dry sherry, and an almost hoppy character linger pleasantly. This whisky underwent a unique maturation process, spending nine years in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks before a final year in sherry casks, imparting a wonderful complexity to its flavor profile.
