Benromach Contrasts Peat Smoke
Benromach
Tasting Notes
Benromach's Contrasts Peat Smoke is a delightful contrast of flavors, as the name suggests. This smoky single malt from the Speyside region is a delightful surprise, as Speysiders are rarely known for their peaty character. The whisky is made using heavily peated barley and aged in first-fill bourbon barrels from 2009 to 2020, before being bottled at 46% ABV. On the nose, you're greeted with roasted nuts, vanilla pod, earthy barley, cinnamon, ginger, and a hint of summer meadow. The palate is fruit-forward, with flamed orange peel and a splash of apple, but still packing plenty of peat smoke. The finish is a delightful blend of bonfire embers, brown sugar, and grilled pineapple. This whisky is a true delight for those who appreciate a well-balanced and complex smoky dram.
