Compass Box has once again pushed the boundaries of traditional whisky-making with their Experimental Grain expression. This intriguing blend is a delightful departure from the creamy smoothness of their acclaimed Hedonism offering. The unique character of Experimental Grain stems from its foundation of peated grain whisky from Loch Lomond, which imparts a captivating smoky essence. This smoky backbone is expertly balanced with the addition of whiskies from Cameronbridge and North British, aged in recharred barrels and hogsheads, lending depth and complexity. To top it off, a touch of the ultra-creamy Hedonism itself is incorporated, having been further aged in cask, adding a velvety richness to the overall experience. The result is a whisky that tantalizes the senses with aromas of fried banana, BBQ pineapple, and a hint of smoked almond, followed by a palate that echoes the savory BBQ smoke while unveiling layers of vanilla and red berry sweetness. The finish lingers with earthy notes of forest floor, honey, and a zesty orange peel.
