Tasting Notes
Dalmore Cromartie 1996 is a true delight for the senses, a whisky that transports you to a world of indulgent flavors. Crafted by the skilled hands of Master Distiller Richard Patterson, this limited edition release pays homage to the illustrious Mackenzie clan. The liquid gold is first matured in American white oak casks, imparting a rich foundation, before being transferred to Oloroso sherry casks from the renowned Gonzalez Byass bodega in Jerez de la Frontera. The result is a luscious dram that seduces the nose with floral notes intertwined with thick dried fruits like raisins, dates, and candied peels. The palate is equally decadent, with a velvety texture that envelops the taste buds with layers of dried figs, sweet marmalade, dark chocolate, leather, and a zesty pepper kick. The finish lingers with an intense cocoa bitterness, reminiscent of an 80% dark chocolate bar, balanced by a caramel sweetness that leaves a lasting impression of sheer indulgence.
