The Dalmore Cigar Malt is a delightful whisky crafted to accompany a fine cigar. Upon nosing, it tantalizes the senses with aromas of rich caramel, buttery shortbread, and hints of coffee and chocolate. The palate is a delightful dance of toffee sweetness edging towards a smoky, burnt caramel character, complemented by zesty flamed orange notes and perfectly integrated sherry flavors. The finish is reasonably simple yet alluring, reminiscent of Christingles – a blend of orange zest, clove, and a touch of cinnamon – lingering on the mid-palate rather than coating the entire mouth. Although discontinued in 2009, this particular expression sparked quite the uproar among whisky enthusiasts, as the reworked version, while still a harmonious pairing with cigars, utilized slightly older whiskies in its blend.
