Tasting Notes

This splendid 12-year-old whisky from Glen Spey Distillery is a true delight for the senses. Independently bottled by Gordon & MacPhail's Connoisseurs Choice range, it boasts a captivating aroma reminiscent of summer berries, crushed almonds, and a hint of fresh sawdust, complemented by a biscuity malt undertone. On the palate, it unveils a delightful symphony of cooked apples, stewed fruits, and darker berry notes, intertwined with the flavors of honey oatmeal cookies studded with raisins and chocolate chips, a vegetal oak nuance, and a bold, peppery barley essence. The finish is equally enticing, with oak char bringing a touch of spice, cinnamon, anise, and clove, while the sweet nutty malt lingers, perfectly balancing the soft, soaked fruit notes. Originally matured in refill bourbon barrels and finished for three years in Côte-Rôtie wine casks, this exquisite Speysider is a true masterpiece, with a limited release of 3,500 bottles.
