Grand Optimist Rye, from New York's The Batter Man Distilling, aims for rye versatility. Think both killer cocktails and neat pours. Utilizing NY-grown Danko Rye, it highlights the grain's bready character, but with a twist. Batch 002, aged nearly a year, offers cherry liqueur, spicy rye, and singed sawdust aromas. Taste-wise, it's a bright rye kick followed by cooked oats, hazelnut, cocoa, baking spices, and unique slate notes. Bottled at 47.7% ABV, it seems like a well-rounded sipper with enough punch for classic rye cocktails.
