Kanosuke's 2023 Limited Edition is a bold statement from this innovative Japanese distillery. Imagine a whisky that throws tradition a curveball, blending peated and unpeated malts, then maturing them in ex-bourbon, sherry, and even casks that previously held their own Mellow Kozuru rice shochu. Bottled at a cask strength of 59% ABV, it's a powerhouse with a nose of ashy peat, farmy notes, cocoa and dark fruit. The palate delivers a meaty, smoky punch with a hint of spice and chocolate. Think Islay peat meets Japanese ingenuity, with a long, lingering finish of soot and smoked strawberries.
