Tasting Notes
This 12-year-old Ledaig single malt whisky, distilled in 2009 at the Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull, boasts a captivating blend of mild malt and a delicate vegetal peat aroma, complemented by notes of chocolate raisins, a hint of honey, and a subtle salinity. On the palate, it unveils a delightful combination of dark cherry chocolate and soaked berries, mingled with rich spices, bold fruity oak flavors, and a drying, peppery peat smoke. The finish lingers with caramel and a touch of salt, accompanied by more cherries, robust barley, anise, and clove flavors. This exceptional single malt spent 11 years maturing in a bourbon hogshead before being transferred for its final year to a port quarter cask, lending it a unique and well-rounded character. With an outturn of only 152 bottles, this release from independent bottler Na Bràithrean is a true gem for whisky enthusiasts seeking a distinctive and flavorful experience.
