Tasting Notes
Loch Lomond Steam & Fire is a remarkable whisky that delights the senses from the moment you catch its aroma. The nose is an enticing blend of sweetness, with notes of honey, toffee, and orange liqueur mingling with the delightful scent of jam roly poly and a touch of smoke. The palate is equally captivating, offering a creamy texture with flavors of muscovado sugar, marmalade, and a zesty hint of chili jam. As the whisky lingers on the finish, dark chocolate emerges, accompanied by fudge and lingering wood smoke, leaving a lasting impression. This unique expression is the result of master blender Michael Henry's craftsmanship, combining the distillery's traditional swan neck and straight neck stills and an innovative aging process. Initially matured in first-fill bourbon barrels and American oak casks, it undergoes a ten-month finishing period in first-fill heavily re-charred American oak barrels, bottled at 46% ABV. The bold, sweet flavors make it a delight to savor neat or as the base for simple cocktails like an Old Fashioned, especially when paired with orange bitters.
