The Octomore 13.1 5 Year Old is a bold and smoky single malt Scotch whisky that packs a powerful punch. Crafted with 100% Scottish barley and distilled using heavily peated malt at a whopping 137.3 PPM, this whisky embraces the intense flavors of smoke and earth. The nose is a delightful blend of sweet, earthy char, nutty notes of pecan pie, and buttery undertones reminiscent of an apricot crostata. On the palate, waves of smoke wash over the senses, accompanied by charred peaches, creamy oatcakes drizzled with heather honey, toasted coconut, and spicy ginger cake. The finish lingers with a buildup of earthy peat, damp embers, and fragrant spice. This 5-year-old expression was initially aged in a combination of bourbon and Tennessee whiskey casks, and later re-casked into American oak in 2021, imparting additional layers of sweet, oaky influence amidst the bold smokiness.
