This commemorative release holds special significance as Port Ellen was a particular favorite of Mr. Laing Senior, who cherished what he described as its distinctive "smack of soft chewed leather" alongside its subtly complex Islay character. Previously a crucial component in his celebrated King of Scots blends, Port Ellen's precious remaining stocks were later reserved exclusively for single cask bottlings like this one. Matured for three decades in a refill hogshead and bottled at 55.6% ABV, this expression yielded just 234 bottles, each one celebrating Douglas Laing's journey from 1949 to 2009.
