Redemption's Rum Cask Finish Rye is an experiment that doesn't quite reach the promised land. The nose is a confusing mix of rye and rum, but not in a harmonious way. The palate leads with a rather ordinary MGP rye profile, nothing particularly special. Just as you settle into familiar territory, a fleeting sweet & sour note from the rum cask crashes the party. It’s a brief, jarring interruption before the finish returns to standard rye. Easy-drinking but uninspired, and at this price point, there are better options out there.
