Redemption Sur Lee Rye is a curious experiment, born from blending whiskey-making with French winemaking techniques. Using a high-rye mash bill, Redemption introduces "lees" – flavorful backset from distillation – into the barrels during aging. The result, a 3-year-old, 94-proof rye, aims for a creamy mouthfeel and bold taste. While the nose offers enticing citrus and rye bread notes, the palate unfortunately doesn't deliver on that promise, leaning towards muted flavors and a dry, oaky finish. An intriguing concept, but it ultimately falls short of its potential.
