Stauning Smoke Whisky Design Edition is a remarkable Danish single malt whisky that defies the notion that peated whiskies are exclusive to Scotland. Crafted using locally sourced ingredients, including grain and peat, this whisky is malted on open floors. The kiln incorporates both peat and heather from the surrounding Stauning landscape, imparting a delicate yet complex smoky character. Double-distilled in small, flame-heated pot stills – a unique setup with 24 direct-fired stills – the spirit is then aged for five to six years in a blend of first-fill bourbon, Madeira, Jamaican rum, and virgin American oak casks. The result is a beautifully balanced whisky with a mildly smoked profile, bottled at 47% ABV.
