Strathclyde
Tasting Notes
The Strathclyde 1973 31 Year Old, bottled by Duncan Taylor as part of their prestigious Rare Auld series, represents an exceptional example of long-aged grain whisky. Distilled in November 1973 and matured until January 2005, this expression was drawn from cask #74061 at a robust natural strength of 62.8% ABV. Being bottle number 02 of just 157 bottles, this release offers a rare opportunity to experience how Strathclyde's grain spirit evolves over more than three decades of maturation. The fact that it was selected for Duncan Taylor's Rare Auld series, known for featuring only exceptional casks, speaks to the remarkable quality of this particular barrel. Each 70cl bottle, presented in its original case and maintaining good fill level, captures a remarkable moment in time from one of Scotland's important grain distilleries, demonstrating the sophisticated complexity that well-aged grain whisky can achieve.
