The Gauldrons
The Gauldrons
Tasting Notes
This remarkable regional malt whisky, dubbed "The Gauldrons," aptly named after the "bay of storms," is a captivating addition to Douglas Laing's esteemed Remarkable Regional Malts series. The nose tantalizingly unveils a symphony of sweet cereals, punctuated by a subtle note of iodine and alluring sweet spices. Upon tasting, a delightful coastal essence unfolds, complemented by smooth peat and gentle wood spice. A touch of salted caramel delicately emerges, mingling with nuances of brown sugar and smokey barley, creating a harmonious symphony of flavors. The finish lingers, with notes of vanilla, robust peat, and a hint of sea salt, leaving a lasting impression on the palate. This unique expression joins an illustrious lineup, including the peaty Big Peat from Islay, the elegant Epicurean from the Lowlands, the island-inspired Rock Oyster, the Speyside-born Scallywag, and the Highland representative, Timorous Beastie.
