This Australian rye whisky from The Gospel distillery in Melbourne is truly a gem. With a mash bill of 51% unmalted rye and 49% malted barley, it boasts a delightful combination of buttery dark rye bread aromas infused with hints of spice, light toffee, and an underlying cherry compote note. On the palate, the rye bread notes continue, accompanied by caramel vanilla, sweet allspice, clove, pepper, and rich red fruit flavors. The finish is dry and lingering, with dried red fruit and crème caramel notes, complemented by woody spices. This limited edition single cask whisky was initially matured in a new American oak cask, followed by a red wine cask finish, imparting a fruity dimension to the spirit. Bottled at a robust 58.6% ABV, the label features the story of The Gospel distillery and depicts a deadly Australian animal, adding an intriguing touch to this exceptional rye whisky.
