This Whitlaw 7 Year Old whisky from 2014 is a true gem, meticulously crafted by the masters at Highland Park. Upon pouring, the aroma takes you on a journey, with salty sea breeze intertwining with the sweetness of treacle toffee and pear drops, while earthy oak char adds depth. The palate is a delightful dance of flavors – sweet apple crumble doused in maple syrup, tangy citrus notes, soft peat smoke, and hints of heather. Toasted oak brings forth wafts of creamy vanilla and baking spice, with a musty cigar box aroma lingering beneath. The finish is a symphony of oily oak, spiced fruit buns, and a slightly vegetal peat smoke, leaving a lingering prickle of pepper on the tongue. This single malt, matured for seven years and finished in STR casks, was bottled in 2022 by Càrn Mòr as part of their Strictly Limited series, with only 1,603 bottles released.
