Tasting Notes
This Wormtub 10 Year Old single malt whisky from an undisclosed Speyside distillery is a true delight for the senses. The deep amber hue, derived naturally from its decade-long maturation in first-fill sherry casks, is an invitation to explore its rich and complex character. The nose is a delightful interplay of charred fruitcake, zesty orange peel, and warm cassia, complemented by earthy forest floor notes and dusting of cocoa and baking spices. On the palate, robust malty flavors reminiscent of honeyed biltong are accompanied by nutty walnuts and tangy marmalade, with sweet sherried fruits and cranberries adding a delightful tartness. A trickle of rich salted caramel ties everything together beautifully. The finish is remarkably long and satisfying, with dense, oily malt and candied fruit notes lingering for an eternity. This cask-strength (56.9% ABV) whisky, bottled without chill filtration or added color, is a testament to the skill and craftsmanship of its makers.
